Manikarnika: Everything You Need To Know About This Mega Movie

When the queen of Bollywood and the queen of the Indian history come together it's sure to bring its intense magic onscreen.

This became very evident when director Krish released the poster of Manikarnika on the 72nd year of Independence.

The fierce look of Kangana as the warrior queen Rani Laxmi Bai dressed in white carrying a child on her back and holding a sword charging towards her enemy with her Peshwas on the battlefield.




Theme of Manikarnika

The film revolves around India’s first freedom fighters Rani Laxmi Bai who carried her baby boy into the battlefield and her historic battle stories with the East India Company.




Kangana's Dedication For Manikarnika

Talking about the making of the film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is very close to Kangana and she has put immense efforts both physically and mentally to bring the warrior queen alive onscreen. The film will be a fitting tribute to the heroes of our freedom struggle. Kangana who has played challenging characters is all set to captivate the audience with her iconic role.




Manikarnika: The Controversies

Kangana And Injuries

Kangana was injured more than once during the shooting.

At Hyderabad, Kangana was severely hit while the fencing scene was being filmed. The sword was on the forehead of Kangana and she was injured. She had to be admitted to the hospital. There were 15 stitches on her head.

For the second time, she was badly hurt in her leg and was spotted in a wheelchair at the airport. During the stunts, this incident happened with Kangna Ranaut and she returned from Jodhpur.


Change In Direction

According to current reports, the movie is making news for all the wrong reasons. First, it was director Krish Jagarlamudi who left the film mid-way to direct the NTR biopic. However, later the team Manikarnika released a statement stating that Krish is still the director of the film and Kangana is just shooting the remaining portions.


Kangana And Sonu Sood

Then there was news that actor Sonu Sood who was playing the character of Sadashivrao Bhau walked out from the movie saying,
“I can't work with two directors at the same time.” His statement does bring some speculations as something is not working on the sets of Manikarnika.
And it has given more fuel when actor Swati Semwal also left the shoot midway saying she could not comply with the reshooting schedule.

Apart from the actors walking out from the sets, Zee Studios business head, Sujay Kutty has been sacked by the studio for green-lighting this project, as per a report by Filmibeat. The report also revealed that the reason for the sacking was also because of the of reshoots which will cost the production house an additional Rs 30 crore, over the Rs 70 crore original budget of the film.

After so much drama about the film, it’s surely going to be a fierce journey for queen Kangana fighting all odds and releasing the film. The period drama also stars Jisshu as Gangadhar Rao, Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Suresh Oberoi as Peshwa Bajirao II, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi as Puran Singh and Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkaribai.

The film was slated for April this year but will now release on 25th January 2019.
