Women In Video Games: Top Games Played Extensively By Women

Prior to 2000’s, videos games were played exceedingly by men. Since 2010, women started engaging themselves in video games equally as men.

According to an entertainment software survey, girl Gamers increased from 40% in 2010 to 48% in 2014. However, there is a considerable difference between men and women based on the genre of video games preferred by them. 69% of the women prefer match-3 tile-matching video games and family or farming simulators, while 98% of the men prefer sports games.

Today, we look at the top online video games played extensively by women. 

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Over 48% of the players of Dragon Age Inquisition are females according to the polygon. Dragon Age Inquisition is an action, role-playing game that takes place across the Orlesian Empire. The player can either choose or create a character known as the inquisitor, its characteristics, abilities and appearance.

The inquisitors create an Empire and lead their troops against enemy kingdoms. This game can be played in single player or multiplayer mode with up to 4 players. All in all, this is an action-packed game that enthrals the players by its high definition graphics and gripping story.

Pokémon Go

According to a 2016 survey by survey monkey intelligence, about 63% of the players of Pokémon go in the USA were women. It is a real-life creative game that has a Peculiar form of interaction with the players and their surroundings.

The Player searches for the pokéstops that are found in real life places like neighbourhoods, shops and other landmarks and whenever another Pokémon crosses the path the player’s phone vibrates and he throws the pokéballs at it before it escapes. The game is finished when all the other Pokémon are caught.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

29% of the women Gamers were found to play this game according to a survey conducted by Quantic foundry. It is an epic multiplayer role-playing game designed for the PC. The game up occurs in star war world which contains eight(8) star war classes.

The players choose to be one among these classes and plays alone or with others online. A player in the game creates his own story by selecting either the light or dark forces and also makes friends and enemies along the way.



                                                    

Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush is played by a whopping 59% of the women, according to the survey by the Washington Post. The game is a match-3 puzzle where the player makes matches of three or more candy pieces of same colour and appearance by swapping on the other candies. Matched candies are eliminated and replaced by new ones. This game has countless different levels and episodes.
